Vilma Pinchi is a full professor of Legal Medicine, Head pf Dept.Section of Forensic Medical Sciences, Coordinator Master in Forensic Odontology and Head of Specialization Course in Legal Medicine at University of Florence,.
Prof. Pinchi completed PhD in Medical Forensic Sciences cum laude and specialization in orthodontics at University of Brescia and the Master course in Bioethics in Clinical Daily Activity at University of Firenze. She is the President of Tanatocentrum – Center of University of Florence and since 2017 is the Delegate for Italy at the European Council of Legal Medicine. She served as President for two terms (2011-2017) of IOFOS (International Organisation for Forensic
Odonto-Stomatology) and since 2017is the Editor in chief of “The Journal of Forensic Odonto-Stomatology” and is the Vicepresident GIAOF (Italian Group of forensic anthropology and odontology ). Since 1999 prof. Pinchi has served ad Expert witness for criminal and Civil Courts and has coordinated the forensic activity of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Florence in all cases requiring personal identification, bitemarks identification, age identification and ante-mortem data collection. Prof. Pinchi sarves regularly as reviewer for several international journals, has authored textbook and more than one hundred papers dealing with dental ID, DVI- mass-disaster, professional liability of the dentist, evaluation of dental damage and the dental insurance. She lectures nationally and internationally.
